Tools
Chain-nose pliers

Steps
1. Connect a jump ring to each charm.
2. Using 24-gauge wire, make a beaded component for the center of the necklace featuring the star fish charm. To do this, cut an 8″ piece of 24-gauge wire. Grasp the wire about 2″ down with round-nose pliers and make a 90-degree bend.
Reposition the pliers so they are grasping the wire at the top of that bend. Then push the wire up and over the top jaw of the pliers, making a partial loop. Reposition the pliers so the bottom jaw of the pliers is in the partial loop and pull the wire around the rest of the way to finish making the loop. Hold that loop across with round-nose pliers and pull the tail of wire around the neck below the loop two times. Now slide on the beads in this order: Pacific Opal – Sapphire – Aquamarine – Starfish Charm – Aquamarine – Sapphire – Pacific Opal. Make another wrapped loop after the last bead.

3. For the next beaded component, cut an 8″ piece of wire. Slide the loop of the first starfish component into this loop. Then grasp the loop across with round-nose pliers and pull the tail of wire around the neck below the loop two times. Next slide the beads on in this order: Aquamarine – Seashell Charm – Aquamarine. Make another wrapped loop after the last bead.
4. Repeat to make a beaded component on the other side of the center starfish component. For this component, slide the beads on in this order: Aquamarine – Sand Dollar Charm – Aquamarine. Make another wrapped loop after the last bead.
5. Continue using the same technique and add 3 beaded components to each side of the necklace. Slide the beads on in this order: Aquamarine – Sapphire – Pacific Opal on one side and Pacific Opal – Sapphire – Aquamarine on the other.
6. Add a single component to each side featuring Sapphire – Pacific Opal beads on one side and Pacific Opal – Sapphire on the other.
7. Add two more wrapped loop components to each side, each with one Sapphire beads. As you finish the last component on each side, connect the loop while still open to the end of a piece of chain.
8. Make a wrapped loop component with a Sapphire bead to connect the clasp to the end of the chain. Repeat to connect the other side of the clasp to the other end of the Starfish Charm Necklace.
This Starfish Charm Necklace will be 17½” long. You can adjust the length by changing the length of the chains.
We think this is such a fun way to use charms in jewelry. And we just love making beaded components with wrapped loops. It’s addictive!
