We’re rounding out our Week of Gift Crafts with a simple sachet that’s a real show-stopper! We love sachets because they’re easy to craft and make lovely little presents.
We think this cinnamon and clove sachet would make a great holiday hostess gift!
YOU’LL NEED
Scented Herbs & Essences
Dried cloves, 3/4 cup
Flaxseed, 3/4 cup
Cinnamon essential oil
Materials & Embellishments
Emerald silk shantung, 11″ x 11″ square
Silver lamé ribbon, 7/8″ wide, 18″ long
Red silk poinsettia, 4″ diameter
Red ultra-fine glitter
Gold ultra-fine glitter
Small rubber band
White craft glue
Small craft paintbrush
Tools & Supplies
Scissors
Ruler
Wire snips
Bowl
Spoon
WHAT TO DO
1. To create the scented sachet filling, pour the cloves and flaxseed into a bowl. Add 10 drops of the cinnamon essential oil and stir.
2. To make the sachet, lay the silk shantung square out on a table. Spoon the sachet filling onto the center of the square. Gather the corners and edges of the fabric square tightly together to create a ball. Secure the fabric at the top with a small rubber band.
3. Snip the stem of the poinsettia 2″ from the base of the red leaves. Paint the tips of each red leaf with glue and immediately sprinkle with red glitter. Then dab the yellow buds in the center with glue and sprinkle them with gold glitter. Stick the remaining stem down into the center of the sachet.
4. Finish the sachet by wrapping the silver ribbon around the top to conceal the rubber band. Then tie the ribbon in a tidy knot and trim the ends at an angle. Happy holidays!

You are so welcome, Candace!
Why flax seeds ? Can I use something else ? Flax seeds are a little costly here so I’d like to use something else. I do have a bunch of lavander would that not go with cloves ?
Thanks
You can really use anything. Dried beans, sand, even rice! Cloves and lavender sound nice together.
Love this idea as I have downsized our Christmas decor and decorations. I have several poinsettia clusters and this makes the perfect little gift for my friends. Thanks for the idea. I shall embellish on this idea.
