Turn an old pair of blue jeans into a cute pocket purse! It’s easy! Just cut the back pockets from a pair of jeans and glue them back to back.
We embellished ours with a cute cupcake applique, but you could choose any applique you like! Then we made a long handle with pony beads. Great kid craft!
How To Make A Pocket Purse
Materials
1 pair of plain-pocket blue jeans
1 cupcake patch, 3 1/2″
70 plastic pony beads, pastel colors
18″ cotton braiding cord
pink rickrack, medium
white rickrack, medium
Beacon’s Fabri-Tac Glue
scissors
Steps
1. Cut the back pockets out of a pair of blue jeans. Flip the pockets over and cut out the inside of each pocket, leaving the stitching.
2. To make the handle, tie a bead onto one end of the braiding cord. Slide on pony beads until you reach the other end of the cord, then remove 6 pony beads to make wiggle room. Tie a pony bead onto that end to keep the beads from sliding off.
3. To attach the handle, lay the pockets back to back. Sandwich the knotted pony bead ends of the handle between the pockets on each side. Glue the pockets together along 3 edges, leaving the opening of the pocket unglued.
4. Glue the cupcake patch onto the front of the pocket purse. Cut 1 piece of pink rickrack and 1 piece of white rickrack the width of the pocket. Glue them above the patch. Now fill up your cute new purse with goodies!
Pocket Change: Pick up a pair of blue jeans for just a buck or two at a thrift store!
We love getting pinned!
