Make a pretty pair of dressy dangle earrings with this easy earring tutorial. These Crystal Cube Earrings get their pizzazz from gorgeous Swarovski crystal beads. We selected the crystal cubes because we thought their shape gave this design a little something special. And we think the crystal rhinestone spacer beads add dazzle and shine. These earrings are super easy to make too. We’ll show you every step!
We made an easy earring tutorial video to go with this project. Watch us as we make the earrings to learn the steps. You can also use the instructions below. If you make your own version of these earrings, we’d love to hear about it! Leave us a comment below.
Video How-to: Crystal Cube Earrings
How To Make Crystal Cube Earrings
Materials
2 Faceted crystal cube beads, clear, 8mm
2 Faceted round crystal beads, turquoise, 6mm
2 Rhinestone spacer beads, clear, 3mmx6mm
2 Decorative head pins, silver
2 Earring wires, silver
Tools
Round-nose pliers
Chain-nose pliers
Wire cutters
Steps
1. Slide Cube Bead Onto Headpin
To get started, slide the faceted cube bead onto the headpin. We chose a decorative headpin with a little flower and ball end. Ours are Thai silver. We think these decorative headpins add a extra flair, but you can make these earrings with regular headpins.
2. Slide On Spacer
Next slide on the rhinestone spacer bead. Rhinestone spacer beads come in lots of colors and shapes. They are indented on both ends so they fit snugly between two beads. The rhinestones add a little extra bling!
3. Slide Round Crystal Bead Onto Headpin
Finish the beading by sliding on the faceted round crystal bead.
4. Bend Headpin Wire 90-Degrees
Finish the beaded dangle by making a wrapped loop. To do this, grasp the headpin wire with the round-nose pliers just above the last bead. Pull the end of the wire over the top jaw of the pliers to create a 90-degree bend in the wire.
5. Reposition Pliers
Move the round-nose pliers to the wire just above the 90-degree bend.
6. Pull Wire Up And Over Top Jaws Of Pliers
Pull the end of the wire around the top jaw of the pliers, in the opposite direction of the 90-degree bend.
7. Reposition Pliers And Finish Making Loop
Take the top jaw out of the partial loop you just made and slide the bottom jaw into the loop. Pull the end of the wire the rest of the way around to make a complete loop. Then wrap the tail of the wire around the neck two times.
8. Trim Wire
Trim the end of the wire using the wire cutters.
9. Open Loop On Earring Wire
Open the loop on the earring wire with the pliers.
10. Slide Earring Loop Onto Earring Wire
Slide the loop on the beaded dangle onto the end of the earring wire and into the open loop.
11. Close Loop On Earring Wire
Use the pliers to close the loop on the earring wire.
Repeat to make a second earring.
Aren’t these earrings lovely? And the design is so flexible. You can make these beaded earrings with any beads. One way to develop your design is just to slide a series of beads onto the headpin and see how they look stacked together.
