We love faux succulents, so of course we had to use them in a fall arrangement. What better vase than a pumpkin!? We added silk roses and berry picks to the faux succulent pumpkin to give the whole arrangement more fall color. What do you think of the mix?
How To Make a Faux Succulent Pumpkin
Materials
9.5″ Funkin carvable craft pumpkin
9 Faux succulents, 3″ to 4″
3 Red-orange silk roses, 3″
7 Red-orange silk rose buds, 2″
13 Peach silk roses, 1.5″
6 Yellow silk roses, 1.5″
12 Frosty blue-green faux foliage picks
15 Dark green faux succulent picks
12 Peach berry picks
Styrofoam block or newspaper
Styrofoam half-ball
Tools
Wire cutters
Pumpkin carving tool (or fine hand saw)
Hot glue gun & glue sticks
Steps
1. Use the pumpkin carving tool to cut the top of the Funkin off. Fill the inside of the pumpkin with a Styrofoam block or crumpled newspaper, then place the half-ball on top. It should rise up out of the hole in the pumpkin. Hot glue it in place.
2. Shorten the stems of the largest succulents using the wire cutters, leaving a 2” to 3” stem. Poke the succulents into the Styrofoam so they are evenly spaced around the half-ball. Hot glue in place. Repeat to snip the stems of the red-orange roses and poke them into the Styrofoam. We always start with the largest items and space them out. Once these are placed, it’s easy to figure out where the smaller things go!
3. Tuck the medium-sized roses around the red-orange roses and the large succulents, hot gluing them in place as you go. Fill in the gaps with the frosty blue and the dark green succulent picks. When working around the bottom edge of the pumpkin, angle the picks downward to hide the carved edge and create a transition between the bouquet and the pumpkin.
4. Finish by poking the berry picks into the Styrofoam so they stick out a little above the bouquet.
We think this faux succulent pumpkin would make a lovely centerpiece or look pretty by the front door. We’ve seen some arrangements like this done with real flowers and succulents, but we like the idea of having a faux succulent pumpkin that will look pretty through the whole fall season with no extra care! Happy Crafting!
