Give a plain glass vase a splash of panache with a fetching etching!
Make an artful vessel for your own garden roses by embellishing an ordinary glass vase. Just start with contact paper and draw some simple shapes. Then add flower stickers to create a divine design. Once your composition is complete, simply dab on the etching cream and rinse. Presto! As your vase dries, your gorgeous custom etching will appear like magic.
You Will Need:
rectangular glass vase, 6 inches tall
Armor Etch Cream, 3-ounce bottle
die-cut flower stickers
contact paper
masking tape
scissors
small paintbrush
gloves
Directions:
Step 1
Wash and dry the glass vase thoroughly. Place masking tape around the area you want to etch.
Step 2
Draw freehand stem shapes about two to three inches long on the contact paper, then cut them out with scissors.
Step 3
Apply stem shapes and flower stickers to the front of the vase. Get creative! Just be sure to rub down any overlapping stickers completely so the etch cream won’t sneak under (sneaky etch cream!).
Step 4
In a well-ventilated area, don the gloves and paint the Armor Etch Cream onto the masked-off front of the vase. Dab the cream on thickly to avoid streaks in the etching.
Step 5
Wait 5-10 minutes, then rinse your vase thoroughly (be sure to wear your gloves!). Peel stickers off as you rinse to ensure the etch cream is completely rinsed off and the vase is completely clean.
Step 6: Dry your newly etched vase (the etched image won’t appear until the vase is completely dry.) Now add some fresh-cut flowers and enjoy!
Sticky Note: If you need to reposition the stickers while making your design, use rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab to remove any tape residue that might interfere with the etching cream.
