You Will Need:
cigar box
antique gold spray paint (Mom or Dad can help with this)
black velvet, 1/3 yard
2 sheets double-sided adhesive film, 9″ x 12″
junk drawer treasures
hot glue gun
hot glue sticks
scissors
ruler
pencil
Directions:
Step 1
Hot glue the junk drawer treasures to the lid of the cigar box. Trim the leftover hot glue strings with scissors.
Step 2
Spray paint the outside of the cigar box with the antique gold spray paint. Be sure to cover the treasures completely and from all angles.
Step 3
To line the box, measure the inside bottom and four sides of the cigar box and cut the adhesive sheets to fit. (Do not remove the adhesive backings yet.)
Step 4
Remove one side of the backing from each adhesive sheet and stick to the back of the velvet. Cut out the adhesive-backed velvet pieces with scissors.
Step 5
One at a time, remove the backing from each piece of velvet and stick to the inside of the box.
No Strings Attached: To make quick work of removing the hot glue strings, get out your trusty tweezers and start plucking.
Treasure Chest: If your junk drawer is junk free, raid the kids’ toy chest. With a touch of spray paint, you can turn mismatched Barbie shoes and loose LEGOs into decorating gold.
