Etched glass looks amazing. The process can transform wine glasses, vases, and even old windows. And etching is easier than you think!
YOU’LL NEED:
Old window (or glass vase or wine glasses…)
Con-Tact paper or stickers
Armour Etch Glas Etching Cream
Drop cloth
Window cleaner
Paper towels
Sponge paintbrush
Protective gloves
WHAT TO DO:
Step 1
Wipe the window thoroughly with window cleaner.
Step 2
Create a design on the window with shapes cut from Con-Tact paper or stickers. The areas covered by stickers will remain clear and unetched. Be sure to rub the edges of the stickers down. Clean the exposed glass one more time because oil from your hands can repel the etch cream and leave marks.
Step 3
To etch the glass, don your gloves, then apply the Armour Etch cream with the sponge brush. Paint a thick layer of etch cream over the glass and the stickers. The brushstrokes will show, so one option is to apply the etch cream with a swirling motion and the brush marks will be part of the design.
Step 4
Let the etch cream set for 5 minutes, then rinse the window with water, peel off the cut-outs, and continue rinsing until clean. (You can do this outside with a hose or in the bathtub.) As the window dries, the pattern will reveal itself. Amazing!
