Round-nose pliers
Wire cutters
Sharpie pen
Steps To Make Your Own Earring Wires
1. To get started making your own earring wires, you will need a pair of headpins. We prefer to use the ones with the ball at the end. Use the round-nose pliers to grasp the headpin at the ball end. Bend a small loop in the ball end of the headpin.
2. Next wrap the headpin around a Sharpie pen (or something similar sized) to shape it into the fishhook shape.
3. Use the wire cutters to trim the back of the fishhook so it is the same length as the front.
4. Use the round-nose pliers to bend a slight curve in the end. Repeat to make a second earring wire.
To feed beads or a dangle onto your new earring wires, slide the dangle onto the back end, over the curve and down into the small loop with the ball head.

Hi thanks for sharing – just wondering what gauge headpin you use?
Great question Anna! We like a little thinner gauge for earring wires, so we recommend 20, 22, or 24 gauge.
