We are making soap all week! And each how-to has a matching video lesson!
These melt-and-pour molded soaps have real rose buds embedded right on top. To watch us make these soaps, see our video lesson How To Make Rose Bud Lavender Heart Soaps at Curious.com
Soap Ingredients
12 ounces white shea butter soap base*
20 drops lavender essential oil
60 drops lilac soap color
18 dried rose buds (stems removed)
loose dried rose petals
Materials
Hearts silicone mold
Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle
Tools
Pyrex cup
Chopstick
Knife
Cutting board
Microwave oven
Steps
1. Cut the soap base into cubes, place in the Pyrex cup, and melt in the microwave on high for 30 seconds. Stop and stir with chopstick, then heat on high for ten seconds, checking and repeating until melted.
2. Mix in 20 drops of lavender essential oil, then add approximately 60 drops of lilac soap color. Stir with the chopstick until blended.
3. Pour the soap mixture into one of the hearts in the mold and immediately spritz the surface with alcohol to release bubbles. Set three rose buds in the center of the soap, then crumble rose petals onto the rest of the soap surface. Repeat for the rest of the hearts, reheating the soap each time. Let soaps cool for 45 minutes to an hour, or until cool to the touch.
4. Once the soap has set, turn the mold over and gently unmold the soaps. If the soaps don’t release easily, place the mold in the freezer for 15 minutes and try again.
*We filled our soap mold with water to measure what amount of soap base to use. Multiply the amounts we used to fit the mold you are using.
