Steps
1. Lay the chain out and find the center. Use both pliers to open a jump ring by grasping each side and pulling one side towards yourself and pushing one side away. Slide a seahorse charm onto the jump ring and slide the jump ring onto the center link of the chain. Use the pliers to press the jump ring closed.
2. Slide a Light Azore bicone onto a headpin. Grasp the headpin with the round-nose pliers and bend the tail over the pliers 90 degrees. Grip the headpin with the pliers just above the 90-degree turn. Grab the tail with your fingers and wrap it around the pliers to make a partial loop. Attach the bicone to the chain by skipping one link to the right of the seahorse and sliding the loop of the headpin through the next open link of the chain. Reposition the pliers and finish pulling the wire around to complete the loop. Wrap the tail around the headpin twice. Use the wire cutters to trim the tail.
3. Repeat step two to add two more Light Azore bicones to the chain, skipping a link between each one. Then use the same technique to add three Crystal bicones.
4. Repeat step one to add another seahorse charm to the chain.
5. Continue on to the right using the techniques in step one and step two to add the following: 3 Crystal bicones, 3 Light Azore bicones, 1 seahorse, 3 Light Azore bicones, 3 Montana blue bicones, 1 seahorse, 3 Montana blue bicones, and 3 Light Azore bicones.
6. Go back to the center of the chain and continue to the left using the techniques in step one and step two to add the following: 3 Light Azore bicones, 3 Montana blue bicones, 1 seahorse, 3 Montana blue bicones, 3 Light Azore bicones, 1 seahorse, 3 Light Azore bicones, 3 Crystal bicones, 1 seahorse, 3 Crystal bicones, and 3 White Opal bicones.
7. To attach the clasp to one end of the chain, cut the head off a headpin with the wire cutters. Grasp the wire 10 mm from the end with the round-nose pliers and bend the tail over the pliers 90 degrees. Grip the wire with the pliers just above the 90-degree turn. Grab the tail with your fingers and wrap it around the pliers to make a partial loop. Slide the loop into the end of the chain. Reposition the pliers and finish pulling the wire around to complete the loop. Wrap the tail around the wire twice. Use the wire cutters to trim the tail. Slide a Light Azore bicone onto the wire, then make a partial loop as you just did on the other end of the wire, slide on the clasp, and finish the loop with two wraps. Trim the tail.
8. Add the last Light Azore bicone to the other end of the chain–as a finishing touch–by using the technique in step two.
Isn’t that a fun beachy necklace?! And you could also make a version of this without the charms, just lots of little crystal dangles. Very pretty!
