Materials
Memory wire, gold, 2½” diameter
Seed beads, size 6/0, red, turquoise, black, white, and gold
Star charm, 10mm and jump ring
Tools
Round-nose pliers
Wire cutters
Steps
1. MEASURE & CUT THE MEMORY WIRE
To get started, measure 2¼ coils of the memory wire.
Cut the memory wire with heavy duty wire cutters. Memory wire is very hard, so you won’t want to use your good wire cutters.
2. MAKE A LOOP IN ONE END
To keep the beads from sliding off the memory wire, grasp the end of the wire with the round-nose pliers and rotate to make a loop. If you are making this bracelet with kids, you can help them with this part and then let them do the beading themselves.
3. FEED ON THE SEED BEADS
This is the fun and creative part. Just feed on the seed beads in any pattern you like.
To make one with the pattern we used, bead a quarter of a coil with alternating gold and turquoise seed beads.
Then add 4 white seed beads and 4 turquoise seed beads.
4. SLIDE THE CHARM ON
Slide the star charm onto the bracelet. Then feed on 4 gold and 4 red seed beads.
5. FINISH BEADING THE BRACELET
Alternate 6 white and 7 black beads. Then feed on 8 turquoise seed beads. Add alternating 3 black beads and 2 white beads. To finish the bracelet continue adding these patterns and colors until you have two complete coils beaded.
6. MAKE A LOOP IN THE OTHER END
To finish the end of the memory wire bracelet, cut the wire leaving about 1/2″.
Grasp the end of the wire with the round-nose pliers and rotate to make a loop.
This is a fun DIY gift for kids to make. You can put out little dishes of seed beads in all kinds of colors. Get the kids started by cutting the wire and helping them twist the first loop. Then let them bead the bracelet! A thoughtful gift they will be proud to give.
