Here’s a fun organizing piece we did for HGTV. Our challenge was to use recycled cans in new and creative ways to get organized. We had a blast brainstorming the ideas and creating the shots. Hope you enjoy these ideas!
Turn empty cans of blueberry pie filling into a folk art spoon holder. We made this by bolting the cans to a cutting board. To hang it, we attached a hanger to the back. This one has been pinned a lot!
This junk drawer solution is our favorite upcycle idea. We recycled tuna cans to make these little storage compartments. To keep the edges smooth we used a clean-edge can opener. It really works!
For the kids’ room we used magnets on the cans and attached them to a steel cookie sheet. This way the kids can take down the cup they need – crayons, pencils, chalk – and then put it back when they’re done. Easy clean up!
When we turn the cans on their sides we realized they made cool cubbies. So we surrounded a can with a flower of cans and tied them together with a scarf. Then we tucked a scarf in each one!
We kept the labels on these veggie cans and used them in the garden to store seed packets and small tools. They are so cute!
Does this give you any ideas for upcycling tin cans? Let’s hear em! Leave us a comment.
