Give your Valentine a handmade gift of sweet little heart soaps. These beautiful melt-and-pour guest soaps are made with natural soap base and scented with Palmarosa essential oil. Make a whole batch in just four easy steps!
Soap Ingredients
Melt-and-pour soap base, natural white glycerin
Palmarosa essential oil
Peach soap color
Materials
Hearts silicone candy mold
Rubbing alcohol
Spray bottle
Tools
Pyrex measuring cup
Chopstick
Knife
Cutting board
Microwave oven
Directions
1. Cut the soap base into cubes. (Soap base is typically molded into cubes that are one ounce each.)
2. Place the soap cubes in a Pyrex cup. Melt the soap cubes in the microwave on high for 30 seconds. Stop and stir with a chopstick, then heat on high for ten seconds, checking and repeating until completely melted.
3. Mix 60 drops of peach color and approximately 30 drops of Palmarosa essential oil into the melted soap. Stir with the chopstick until blended. (Reheat the soap if a skin starts to form.)
4. Pour the soap mixture into the molds. If bubbles form on the surface of the soaps, spritz the tops with alcohol to release bubbles. Let the soaps cool for an hour or until cool to the touch.
5. Once the soap has set, turn the mold over and gently unmold the soaps. If the soaps don’t release easily, place the mold in the freezer for 15 minutes and try again.
*We filled our soap mold with water to measure what amount of soap base to use. Multiply the amounts we used to fit the mold you are using.
Nifty Gifty: Tuck three to five heart soaps into a cellophane candy bag and tie it closed with a ribbon for a sweet little gift.
