Transform a dollar store vase with scrapbook paper and Mod Podge! It’s easy! We got our vase at the local dollar store, then we painted it with a pearly finish. To decorate the dollar store vase, we cut pretty designs out of scrapbook paper and decoupaged them on. Here’s how we did it!

Steps
1. Spray paint the vase with the white primer and let it dry. Paint the vase with the Mother Of Pearl paint and let dry. Then give the vase a second coat of the pearl paint.
2. For our design, we cut 2 large medallions, 4 small medallions, 22 medium dots, 8 small dots, and 12 half-flowers with leaves out of the scrapbook paper. For your design, pick a paper that has flowers and shapes you can easily cut out. Decoupage a large medallion or shape onto the widest part of the vase. To decoupage, paint a coat of Mod Podge on the back of the image, then stick it onto the vase. Next paint a coat of Mod Podge over the top. We decoupaged six half-flowers around the central medallion and added medium dots in between. You can just decorate one side or you can repeat the design on the other side of the dollar store vase.
3. To create the neck band, we decoupaged 4 small medallions with 2 small dots in between. Then we decoupaged the rest of the medium dots around the top of the vase.
4. For added dimension, we embellished the paper designs with half pearls using a toothpick and Gem-Tac. (Even though the half-pearls come self-adhesive, the adhesive isn’t strong enough to hold it to the vase, so we used Gem-Tac.)
Here’s a video we made showing how to glue small embellishments like pearls and rhinestones:
